Question by ky_school_teacher: What can I do with extra cocoa powder?
I bought a box of cocoa powder and had some. What can I do with the extra? I do buy chocolate milk mix and hot chocolate mix, so if you have a recipe I can use to make those, I would appreciate it!

~*~ Here are a couple of our favorites! My youngest son, a Marine stationed in Iraq, was thrilled to get a taste of home in his gift box I sent to him! I added a few more that we intend to try. Enjoy!
HOT COCOA MIX
5 1/2 c. powdered milk
1 c. cocoa powder, unsweetened
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nondairy creamer
Sift together all ingredients, mix well, & seal in airtight container. To make 1 cup of hot chocolate, add 1/3 cup hot cocoa mix to 1 cup hot water, & stir.

“CLASSIC COCOA” MIX
1 c. sugar
1 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 c. powdered milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. miniature chocolate chips
1/2 c. miniature marshmallows
Makes 1 quart mix or 12 servings hot cocoa.

MAGIC MALTS & MILK SHAKE
Makes a very rich milk shakes without any ice cream.
1-1/2 to 2 c. ice water
1-1/2 c. nonfat dry milk powder
2/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 to 1-1/2 trays of ice cubes
2 T. corn oil
5-second spray of PAM
Place all ingredients into the blender, including the oil & spray of PAM. Use less water for thicker milk shakes & more water for shakes. The blender should be about 3/4′s full. Cover with lid. Process on high for a full 2 minutes. Pour into chilled glasses, & serve. Makes four servings, 12oz. each.
Variations:
Mocha Shake–Add 1 T. instant coffee.
Chocolate Banana Shake–Add 1 very ripe banana.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake–Add a big spoonful of peanut butter.
Chocolate Mint Shake–Add a few broken red & white candy mints.
Vanilla Milk Shake–omit cocoa powder, reduce sugar to 1/2 c. & add 1 T. (yes, a full tablespoon) of vanilla flavoring.
French Vanilla Milk Shake–crack an egg into the Vanilla Shake version.

MOCHA SHAKE
1/4 c. warm water
2 T. cocoa
1 T. sugar
1 to 2 tsp. instant coffee, powdered
1/2 c. milk
2 c. vanilla ice cream
Place water, cocoa, sugar & instant coffee in blender container. Cover & blend briefly on low speed. Add milk, cover again, & blend on high speed until thoroughly blended. Add ice cream, & cover again then blend until smooth. Serve immediately. Makes about three 6oz. servings.
